The other pilots were starting to talk about changing my callsign. Given my predilection for finding cats on pretty much every mission, a change to “Lucky”, “Black Cat”, or “Rabbit” seemed almost inevitable. It’s not like I had any say in the matter.
My next mission with Knight was a simple three point patrol. Granted the mission took us through two different asteroid fields, but other than dodging rocks that could kill our Raptors in a single hit, it was a simple patrol. I told him there was no way we were going to run into any hostiles this time. Naturally, the cats turned me into a liar.
The Gratha hanging out in the first asteroid field weren’t so bad. Knight and I made quick work of them, then moved on to Nav 2. That’s where the fun really started. A flight of four Krants jumped us. When we polished them off, a second group of two Krants and a Ralari-class destroyer showed up. Argh! Knight and I took them out, but it wasn’t pretty. Somehow I ended up with all of the kills, but Knight definitely put in some good work too.
