Plans to get spend the weekend catching up on tasks went out the window when my squadron requested folks to join in on a missing persons search. This is what we train for though (or are supposed to be training for, in my case. I’ve mainly spent my time in CAP thus far focusing on air work. But they needed people on the ground, and I’ve got a strong back and good endurance.)
As of when I’m writing this, the search is still ongoing. Obviously, we didn’t find him on Saturday, but we did the best job we could, and at least narrowed the remaining search area some. Sometimes that’s the best you can do, along with taking away a few lessons for what to improve for next time.
For me, those lessons mainly revolve around checking the weather better, getting some additional cold weather gear, and maybe looking into doing some rucksack training.
