Thursday Thunder – High Technology Repairs and Low Technology Booms

  • by

Starting with something different this week. In my nineteen year (and counting) career in software development, Microsoft’s Hololens remains the pinnacle of cool technology that I’ve worked on. I’m happy any time I see it show up in actual use somewhere, like when Bell showed off the tech on their V-280 Valor video. Now here we have the Hololens in use with the RAAF!

RAAF reminds me of the classic Hornets that they’ve been operating up until replacing them with Super Hornets and eventually F-35s. Meanwhile, the Swiss Air Force is still rocking their F/A-18Cs, no matter what the weather.

And finally, some old-school Boom courtesy of a Polish SU-22 last year.

According to the Wikipedia sources that I can find, the Polish Air Force is still operating a handful of SU-22M4 aircraft in the Electronics Warfare and ground attack roles, and has no particular plans to retire them before 2025.
