Chapter 15 turned out to be another very long chapter. Multiple pages in the story book, and multiple linked, extremely challenging battles. Burning forty-five minutes on a battle only to realize that you’re going to have to start all over again kind of stings, but with these late missions, it’s usually the only way to find a solution.
The story leading up to the battle is about what I expected after the big Chapter 14 reveal. Some members of Squad E are very unhappy about Angie being locked in the reactor. We get some of her backstory, and, well…
Look, subtlety has never particularly been Valkyria Chronicles’ strong suite. It should be pretty clear at this point that Angie and the Centurion are kind of nuclear weapon allegory. How else is one single cruiser (heck, how else were three cruisers) supposed to gut the heart of the empire? The question is whether Squad E will find a way to save her.
Meanwhile, this battle turns out to be the final showdown with Walz. Which is kind of sad. He turned out to be a pretty noble enemy. From here on out, it’s just going to be the worst of the worst.
