ntion the name “Tenchi” to modern anime fans, and you’ll probably get one of three reactions: A cheerful grin, an eyeroll, or a shrug that says “who?” Once one of the pioneers of anime harem comedies, at least to a western audience, the Tenchi franchise’s value now lays with nostalgic fans.

Originally released in the mid 2006, Ouran is essentially a reverse harem high-school anime centered around a bunch of high-school boys who run the titular host club, and the tomboy girl who accidentally ends up a part of the group. There are lots of wacky hijinks, noodly-arm waving craziness, and inevitable romantic tension. Which boy will our heroine choose?

This show is basically jet nerd crack, especially if you love 3rd- and 4th-Generation fighters. It’s full of MIG-17s and MIG-21s as enemy aircraft, and F-4 Phantoms and A-4 Skyhawks as most of the “supporting” friendly aircraft.
