I swear I had a post planned for the day. Then post work afternoon and evening went something like this:
- We got over eight inches of snow. Time to fire up the snow thrower.
- Talk to neighbor whose driveway and walk I also clear as he gets home. Say “I’m glad I have this snow thrower, because doing this with a shovel would be kind of miserable.
- Snow thrower throttle cable snaps five minutes later.
- Finish clearing snow with a shovel.
- Remove broken cable from snow thrower. Garage is insulated, but not heated, meaning that it’s about twenty degrees warmer than outside, and has no wind chill. Outside temp is fifteen degrees. You do the math.
- Go to hardware store to buy cable. They don’t have it, but their sister store across town does.
- Drive across town and pick up cable.
- Go home and install cable.
- Fire up snow thrower to re-clear driveway, mailbox approach, and sidewalk to street access after snow plow messed up said areas.
- Finally get to open a beer and relax.
