Going Around Means Fully Committed

  • by

A few additional thoughts after yesterday’s post. A successful go around requires 100% commitment to the decision. Changing your mind and trying to save a landing again just makes the situation even worse because now you’re misconfigured with less runway ahead of you.

I’ll probably have to remind myself of this a few times over the next couple of months, but mainly I needed to remind myself of it when I caught myself browsing for which marathons were still happening in September and October.

On the plus side, I’ve got a pretty cool announcement coming up next week! Watch this space!

Bonus video for a few examples of saving a messy approach or going around.

#8 Maybe would have been better off doing a go around. Doing the wheelbarrow is bad enough in a little Cessna, I can’t imagine doing it in an An-124! #4, #5, #6 and #7 are perfect examples of doing a go around from an unstable final approach. I love that #4 and #6 continue to show the second attempt with flawless landings in a very tricky crosswind.

  1. Hey there this is kinda of off topic but I was wanting to know if blogs use WYSIWYG editors or if you have to manually code with HTML. I’m starting a blog soon but have no coding knowledge so I wanted to get guidance from someone with experience. Any help would be enormously appreciated!

    1. It depends on the blog. Most, like this one, tend to use a WordPress adaptation with WYSIWYG editors. In my case, I know enough HTML to do a little bit of custom coding if I feel like it, but it’s definitely not a requirement for a successful blog. Good luck!
