And we’re back-ish, to almost normal. Hooray! Picking up where we left off a month ago with Midgard 1, Midgard mission #2 tasks us with escorting a captured Dralthi back to the Tiger’s Claw. Unfortunately, we’re still stuck in Scimitars.
There are two major issues with this mission: #1 is target identification – you can’t blindly shoot at every Dralthi you see, because one of them might the one you’re escorting. #2 is that the captured Dralthi is still a Dralthi – it’s fragile and easily destroyed. Playing the mission normally all but ensures that your friendly gets destroyed at some point, especially since you can’t order him to just go home. The best way around that is to break the mission sequence, as shown in the video.
Not shown in the video is a bonus “surprise”. In the briefing, Col Halcyon warns you to not head home via Nav 1. Likewise going direct from Nav 2 is a similarly bad idea. The why will become readily apparent when attempted: there’s suddenly a quartet of Jalthi and a pair of Fralthi between Nav 2 and the Claw! Now I don’t mind taking odds like that sometimes, and have before in a Rapier, but not in a Scimitar! No thank you.
For the video I flew Nav 1, cleared out the light opposition there, then went direct to Nav 3 and cleared that group out. Then I flew back to the Claw, cleaning up the five Dralthi waiting in ambush there, then headed to Nav 2 via Nav 3. This way the only enemies that have to be fought while escorting the friendly Dralthi are the three enemy Dralthi right there at Nav 2. Then proceed home via Nav 3.
