Hey, look! It’s a February blog post! At this point, let’s just acknowledge that I’m not going to be keeping to any kind of regular posting schedule for a while yet. There are several reasons for that, but the biggest one is four letters long: WORK!
In January, the company I work for had a short all-hands staff retreat in beautiful, sunny, Sandy Eggo. That made for a nice change from South Dakota’s winter weather. More importantly, a lot of us met each other in person for the first time. I got a much better understanding of my place in the company, and came home with a clear picture of what I need to do moving forward.
Here’s the thing: I have a lot of work that I need to get done. However, there’s a very clear reward payoff at the end which will help The Mrs. and I move forward on our long-term goals. So work, work, work it is, and blogging/YouTube/Twitch gets whatever crumbs of time are left. That’s just the way it’s going to have to be for a while.
Twitch is probably getting the most attention, not because I have any organized strategy over there right now, but because by the end of my work day, I’m wiped out and just want to decompress with some games for an hour or two. For whatever reason, I’m on a Saints Row kick right now, and it’s easy to just hit broadcast when I fire up the game. It doesn’t get me a bunch of viewers, but it keeps my toes in the water, at least.
Meanwhile, I’ve also successfully dragged myself back into the gym and started training for my next marathon. Let me tell you, trying to restart after seven weeks off is tough! My stamina and endurance still isn’t quite back to what it was pre- Chinese Flu/Pneumonia, but three weeks into my training program (Hal Higdon’s Advanced 1 program) I can tell that I’m making progress. The Swan Lake Marathon isn’t going to beat me again!
So yeah, blogging is going to be pretty hit or miss for a good while yet. Not that I don’t have a bunch of posts I want to write, I just don’t have the time right at the moment. C’est la vie.
