Ejection Seat? Don’t Need That! – Let’s Play Wing Commander, Hell’s Kitchen Mission 2

You got away pretty clean, sir.

Things are going from bad to worse, but it’s not really our fault. At least not this time. The net is closing around the last few systems in the Vega Sector though, and Kilrathi reinforcements are jumping into Hell’s Kitchen as the surrounding systems fall. It’s our job to at least slow them down a bit.

First up is a trio of Salthi in a minefield. If Bhurak Starkiller is still alive, then he’ll be a part of this group. Minefields and Scimitars are a lousy combination to start with, but trying to deal with three highly maneuverable opponents, while dodging mines that instantly zero out your shields is an exercise in frustration. It’s easy to take a lot more damage here than you normally would from three light fighters.

You’re going to need to be healthy too, because waiting at Nav 1 is a Fralthi with a quartet of Gratha escorts. Given that Hunter is probably dead or RTB by this point, you’re likely in a 4v1 scenario. At least the Gratha aren’t trying to attack an Exeter or something. You’re going to have to be fast and aggressive here. Hopefully you hung onto most of your missiles from the earlier encounter, and your Target Track is still working.

Taking out the first Gratha flight brings in two more. This should be a bit more of a mop-up than the first fight, but you’re also probably more damaged and low on missiles by this point. Be careful. It really sucks to lose this mission because you got over-confident with one fighter left and ate a face full of Mass Drivers that destroyed your fighter.

After that, it’s just a matter of mopping up the Fralthi and heading back home. Bagging all of the kills on this one will get you a Gold Star to pin on your dress uniform.
