Conversing With My Muse

  • by

Scene: Interior walk-in closet/office. One bleary eyed programmer staring at a blank blog screen

Me: “Okay, Muse, I still need a blog for tomorrow, and the long thinky post isn’t ready yet. What do you have on short notice?

Muse: “Oh, this is my fault now? You’re the one who spent the evening at your Balmer Peak trying to solve SQL problems for work.

“Which I did, thank you very much. And also thanks to my friends Tito and Bud Weiser. But that’s besides the point. We still need a blog.

“What do you mean ‘we?’ I’m just a figment of your imagination when you have Writer’s Block and a deadline.”

“Okay, fine, but writing stuff out helps me think better. Anything?

“Well, you’ve got about a hundred words of internal dialogue now. How about you just go with that, and plan tomorrow better so that you actually write something better.”

“Better than nothing, I guess.”

Have a good day, y’all. Here’s an airplane picture, because I like it.
