A few months ago now, I had the opportunity to put together an absolutely massive LEGO kit – the LEGO Harley-Davidson Fat Boy motorcycle kit, which MLGB and the Terror Team had gifted me for my birthday. It was a while later that I actually had a free weekend to actually build the thing though. As much as I wanted to tear into the kit the evening I received it, the build took over six hours, all told. Naturally, I streamed and recorded the whole thing for later YouTubing.
Build videos aren’t exactly my thing, but with some nice public domain music, and with the camera sped up to 4x (the most I can do with my version of Vegas Pro 14.0), it’s actually kind of soothing.
Will I be doing more LEGO build streams/videos? Maybe. It is fun, and the internet seems to like that type of content. On the other hand, I already have a storage space problem, and LEGO kits are expensive. There’s one other issue too: I’ve got a massive box of unbuilt plastic models which have followed me around for a couple of decades. If I’m being honest, I’d rather be assembling and painting the F/A-18, Spitfire, or Millennium Falcon kits which have been sitting for ages than building LEGO.
With the new office, I finally have the workspace to do just that. Now I just have to get some shelving up behind me, buy new paint, and find the time…
