Something a little different this week: I found an interesting artifact while decluttering papers from my filing cabinet. Ever thought about how the background music in most videogames gets composed? For most people, it barely registers most of the time, but that BGM can really help make or break a mood in a game. Somehow, I ended up with choral music for two of the pieces in Forza 5 – Track 16 – Home Space, and Track 18 – Rewards.
Here are those two tracks in the game.
And here’s the actual music arrangement. I’m not sure I even realized that there were choral portions to these tracks.
Interesting too, is that these say “Project Flagship” on them. That was the internal name for Forza 5 prior to its official announcement at E3. I believe that the name “Flagship” was chosen in part because Forza 5 was an Xbox One launch title. Most likely we can expect Forza Motorsport 8 as an Xbox Series X launch title as well.
