Aviation News – Horten Flying Wings and Homebuilt Jets!

  • by

A couple of awesome little aviation things that floated through my email last week.

First off, the Horten HX-2, a gorgeous little two-place flying wing from Germany, which is going to be at Oshkosh this year. Horten, Horten, why does that name seem familiar? Oh, right, because the Horten HO-229 is probably my favorite weird WW2 German fighter, and this aircraft ostensibly has roots in those designs!

Absolutely stunning.

I can’t tell what their business plan is from the website, whether the aircraft is planned to be a kit or something else. Either way, that’d definitely be on the list for “If I had the money.”

And speaking of “If I had the money”, Sonex just announced the JSX-2T, a two seat enlarged version of their hot little single seat SubSonex jet! Mmm, a v-tail, room for MLGB or a kid, and probably costing less than a new Cessna 172. What’s not to like? Sure it’s not all that practical, but it’s a jet!

Video of the single-seat SubSonex in action. The JSX-2T will be just a bit bigger.
